This week is: International Stress Awareness Week

(2nd November 2020 - 6th November 2020)

International Stress Awareness Week was created in 2018 to raise awareness about stress prevention, following the establishment of Stress Awareness Day in 1998.

Stress is the body’s way of responding to excessive, or too many pressures and when this becomes overwhelming stress occurs, as the body experiences the fight or flight or stress response. This means that stress is not good for you and is an unhealthy state of body or mind or both.

It is sometimes easier for someone else to recognise stress in you, but not always so straightforward to recognise it yourself. It is easy to say the symptoms will go away, but they may not. Go and see your GP if the number of symptoms increase/change, become more frequent, get worse or are long lasting.
